Launching Discovery+ Content on BluTV

BluTV, Turkey’s first and largest local subscription video-on-demand service which not only offers a wide range of local and international TV series, movies, shorts and documentaries but also provides live TV broadcasts.

Project Brief & Overview

In January 2021, BluTV and Discovery announced Discovery's strategic investment in BluTV, the leading local SVOD service in Turkey.
​
The strategic partnership will also make BluTV home to all Discovery content and live TV channels. Therefore, my team and I worked on a project to show and explore Discovery content on the BluTV platform. 
​
My responsibilities were making the competitive analysis, user experience design, usability tests, and visual design through the process.

Competitive Analysis

In the beginning, I made competitor analysis as a method to review and explore trends in video streaming platforms around the world. Analyzed  8+ popular digital platforms such as Hulu, Disney+ and Netflix.

Through this project, BluTV's visual language is started to change as well. A new colour palette and iconography have been used in the platform. New visual components have been added to attract the audiences and give essential information about the platform to the audiences.

User Interviews

We tested our ideas with our team members as well as our current users.

 

What kind of personas were used to conduct the test?​

  • Elif, a financial advisor spends 14+ hours weekly on popular content. Is an active user of Netflix and BluTV. Knows Discovery as a documentary channel.

  • Kaan, a social media specialist 21+ hours weekly on autobiographies, documentaries. Is an active user of Netflix and BluTV. Knows Discovery as a documentary channel.

  • Ozan, a CRM specialist spends 21+ hours weekly on sports content, social media content and other content. Is an active user of Netflix, BluTV, Mubi, Gain, Bein Connect, and Youtube Premium. Knows Discovery through the TLC and DMAX channels and partnership with BluTV.

  • AyÅŸenur, a sale specialist spends 16+ hours weekly on popular and recommended content. Is an active user of Netflix, BluTV, Mubi, Gain, and Bein Connect. Knows Discovery as a documentary channel.

  • Elis, a student spends 21+ hours weekly on popular content. Is an active user of Netflix. Does not know Discovery before.  

  • Fahri, a content reviewer spends 3+ hours periodically on documentaries and other content. Is an active user of Netflix. Knows Discovery as a documentary channel.
